What you can expect from us.

Collection agencies work under federal and state rules about how they contact people and what they have to prove. Here is what that means in practice, how to check we are who we say we are, and what you can ask us for.

The rules we work under

Crown Resolution Group is a licensed collection agency. The Fair Debt Collection Practices Act, along with the laws of the states we work in, sets out how we are allowed to contact you and how we have to behave when we do. In plain terms:

  • We say who we are. Every letter and every call identifies Crown Resolution Group and names the original creditor, so you can match it against your own records.
  • We contact you at reasonable times. Not early in the morning, not late at night, and not at your workplace if you tell us your employer does not allow it.
  • We keep your account between us and you. We do not discuss the account with your family, friends, neighbours, or employer.
  • We do not threaten, harass, or mislead. No pretending to be someone we are not, no claiming things will happen that will not, no pressure tactics. If someone claiming to be us does any of that, we want to know.
  • We put things in writing when you ask. A balance, an arrangement, a confirmation of payment. Ask and it goes on paper.

This section is being finalised with our legal counsel and will be published here once complete.

Checking it is really us

Collection scams exist, and they are good at sounding official. You are entitled to verify anyone who contacts you about money, and we would rather you did. Look at the letter or the caller ID rather than at your memory of the name.

  • Our letters say Crown Resolution Group on them, spelled out in full.
  • Our website is crownresolution.com. Check the spelling against whatever you were sent.
  • Our file numbers match what we can look up when you call. If we cannot find your file number, the account is not ours.
  • We will never ask for your full Social Security number, your online banking password, or payment by gift card or wire transfer.

Never give card or bank details to someone who called you unexpectedly. Hang up, look us up, and call the published number. Ours is (833) 432-5024, and it is on every page of this site.

We are not the other Crown.

Several companies in and around this industry use the word Crown. We are not affiliated with any of them. The one people mix us up with most is Crown Asset Management, LLC, which is a separate company. It is not us, we do not work for them, they do not work for us, and neither of us has any stake in the other.

If your letter says Crown Asset Management, we cannot help you with it and we have no record of your account. You would need to contact them directly.

What you can ask us for

Most questions about an account get answered on the phone in a few minutes: the balance, where it came from, what a plan would look like. A few things are worth knowing you can ask for in writing.

  • Documentation of the account. If you want to see what we have on file before you do anything, you can ask for it.
  • A written arrangement. Whatever plan you agree with us goes on paper before the first payment, and a confirmation follows each payment.
  • A change to how we contact you. If you would rather we wrote instead of called, or did not call you at work, tell us in writing and we will follow the process the law sets out for that.
  • A review, if something is wrong. If you believe an account is not yours, the amount is wrong, or it was already paid, you can tell us in writing and we will look into it. A phone call first is often quicker, because a person can usually clear up a mismatch on the spot.

Questions about any of this?

Call and ask. A person will answer plainly, and if the answer belongs in writing, you will get it in writing.
